Leader Aggregates Sand & Gravel Delivery keeps plumbing crews moving with bedding sand, trench backfill, and 3/4" rock for shading pipe. Sewer lateral repairs, water and gas line trenches, and new rough-ins across Los Angeles and the Inland Empire, with the sand dropped at the trench instead of the curb.
Straight answers
- What to order
- Fill sand for bedding and backfill, washed concrete sand for shading, 3/4" crushed rock where the inspector wants rock under the pipe.
- Jobs we see
- Sewer lateral repairs, water and gas trenches, whole-house repipes, new construction rough-in.
- Load sizes
- 2 to 4 tons is the usual plumbing load. Super sacks for short trench runs and side yards.
- What to say when you call
- Trench length and depth, bedding or backfill, the city, and whether you need it today.
What sand goes under the pipe?
Fill sand or washed concrete sand for bedding, 4 to 6 inches under the pipe, then shading up over the crown before you backfill. Where the inspector calls for rock, 3/4" crushed rock is the usual ask. Tell us which and we'll load it.

How many tons for a trench?
A trench 18 inches wide and 3 feet deep takes about a quarter ton of sand per running foot including bedding. A 40 foot sewer lateral is 8 to 10 tons. We'll check the math with you on the phone.
Can you drop it next to the trench in a side yard?
We place where the truck can reach, including tight driveways. Past a gate or down a side yard, super sacks set by the trench save the wheelbarrow runs.
What plumbers order
3/4" crushed for French drains and septic leach lines. Fill sand for pipe bedding and backfill, SE 30 for PVC.
The call usually sounds like this: the inspector is coming at 10, we need sand here by 6:30. That is a normal morning. Tell us the night before if you can. If you can't, call anyway.
When we're not the right fit
- We're delivery only. There is no yard to visit, so you can't pick up material or look at it before it arrives.
- We provide delivery slips with every load, not certified weight tickets.
- There is no minimum. Small orders pay the regular delivery fee, and super sacks and bags cover the small ones.
If any of those is a deal-breaker for your job, tell us when you call and we'll say so straight.
